Graduation Speech: Groundhog's Day

Improved Essays
I bet you people are very curious about me. I am yours truly, Punxsutawney Phil. Y’all celebrate my special day that people label Groundhog’s Day, which is very important.
I am very anxious to tell everyone if it’s going to stay winter for 6 more weeks or if it will consequently be spring.
Being from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, I’m very enthusiastic around this time of year. I’m a special type of squirrel, and my favorite type of food are berries and different types of vegetation. Usually my kind are found in central and eastern United States, or as I'm told. I’m very lackadaisical on my own holiday because I’d rather sleep in than wake up for you people (I’m just pulling your leg.). Let me depict the scenery as I walk out of my tree stub.

Celest the Squirrel It all started when me and my sister Maryanne decided to go for a short little walk, little did I know that pretty soon we would have a pet squirrel. Maryanne and I both put on our coats and mittens got on our boats and headed out the door. We started down the silent street, the cold air blowing through our hair. About 10 minutes into the walk I spotted something small and brown lying on the street. Me and Maryanne walked up to the small brown figure, and it turned out that it was a squirrel.we poked softly to see if it was dead or alive.…

Groundhog Day: Are You Repeating the Same Patterns? Remember the 1960's Sonny and Cher song "I Got You, Babe?" In the wonderful movie "Groundhog Day," that song is the one that Bill Murray's character, Phil, wakes up to every morning. The first time it happens, he continues on with his day, not sensing any oddities with how his day will unfold. Each subsequent day, however, the song is his indicator that he will be repeating the same day over again.…

Despite the east coast’s recent snowstorm, it looks like spring will be arriving early this year, as predicted by Pennsylvania’s most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil. On the morning of February 2nd, Phil emerged from his tree trunk cage. As he was placed on top of the tree trunk, his actions, interpreted by The Groundhog Club’s emcee, depicted that Phil did not see his shadow. The emcee then announced “ There is no shadow to be cast! An early spring is my forecast!”…

    Groundhog Day Meaning

I learned something new about a book that I had no idea had a deeper meaning. The movie Groundhog Day has bigger meaning then I imagined. When the movie first starts off it with the main character Phil who belittles people and has a God complex. This was great start to the movie gave us a clear insight into Phil’s life and how he treats other people. Phils way of acting in the beginning reminded me of attitude meursault had in opening of his story evil and uncaring.…

Exhilarating: a term making one feel very happy, animated, or elated, would be the perfect word to describe what the day had in store for us eager, and jubilant grade 6 students. A thrilled and luminous smile lit up on my enthusiastic face as I ambled on the same rugged, cracked, gray tinted sidewalk that I had sauntered on everyday for a year. The serene, endless sky was the perfect shade of aqua as the light, silky, radiant clouds formed delicate shapes. The sun was glistening with great luminosity. Suddenly I heard someone screaming my name well not really; it was my nickname, one that really agitated me in an incredibly obnoxious way, “Babikathu wait up”.…

Although the divorce done me and my mom bad we both knew we needed to start our own new lives. I remember walking into Dolly high for my freshman year and remembering what it feels like to be known as “The New Kid” or “Fresh Meat”. Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…

Graduation was a time to celebrate my achievements, to celebrate growing up and maturing into adulthood, to celebrate my friends and family that guided me along the way, and most importantly to celebrate one chapter coming to an end, and another one just beginning. The night before graduation I could hardly sleep as I knew that my high school career would soon be over. I got up that next morning, took a shower, put my makeup on, straightened my hair, and put my favorite black dress on, only this time I had my chords, cap, and gown to go with it.…
