David Wallace Foster’s Kenyon College Commencement Speech is extremely successful for a multitude of reasons. It is not so much inspirational or revolutionary or epic, just simply honest. His speech is blunt about what people will face in their life after education. That adult life is boring, repetitive, trivial, tiring. Yet despite being adult life being unsatisfactory, Wallace always says it will only be those things because of your perspective.…

Thank you, Chief Wood. That really means a lot. I am proud that some of my work, particularly surveillance, has seemed to have a tangible result and has helped this agency and The State of New York. Thank you for providing ongoing training such as the surveillance course with NYPD last November. I hope for and look forward to continued success and expanding my career with this agency.…
I start off almost every lunch the same way. I anxiously await for block 3B to come so I can leave class, and go down to the lunchroom. Once the clock strikes 12:05, my friends and I throw our books in our schoolbags, grab our lunch bags, and run down to the cafeteria. The three floors down never feel longer than when I am running to lunch. As we run down the stairs, I am most curious about what soup Brock will serve today.…
I am writing on behalf of the 8th Grade Class at Monticello Trails Middle School to ask you to please create a “Good Night Kansas” book. It’s not just my school and I who want this, but the whole state of Kansas want a book made for us. My class did some looking around to see what other books were in the series, and we realized that Kansas is 46 out of 50 states that don’t have a book made for them. We realize you don’t accept submissions, but we just want to show that Kansas isn’t an eccentric state, because there is more to us than people think.…
In December I completed all of the classes and requirements for graduation. I will not be returning to Morehouse for the Spring 2017 semester, and I am sadden to renounce my current Glee Club membership status. This has been a remarkable experience filled with memories I will cherish. Being in the Glee Club gave me the courage to try new things, without feeling intimidated or inadequate. I am very grateful that I was able to finish my last semester at Morehouse College in the prestigious Glee Club, a place I have always considered…
Hi Karrin, Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me this morning. Not great news and a hard pill to swallow, but none the less a lesson and coach able moment for myself. As stated on our call I fully respect the decision of the team over at the SF Giants and if anything I would like them to know that there was no misrepresentation or additional information on my resume that in fact was not accurate in the moment. At the end of the week last week while I was completing my enrollment for my program/schools I was given the information that credits were or were not transferable.…
I am an eighth grader at McCord Junior High School. My English class is writing letters to veterans, and thanking them for Veterans Day. I am very thankful for your service. I thank you for protecting me, and everyone in America. I thank you for putting yourself in danger, for me and everyone in America.…
Good Afternoon SgtMaj, I don’t know if you remember me or not however; I was your depot color sergeant from 2002-2005 time frame. Had it not been for your leadership or friendship, this day would not have come. I cordially invite you to attend my frocking ceremony to First Sergeant on January 4, 2016 @ 0830 outside of Wilson Hall, Bldg. 2008, at OCS, Quantico, VA. Thank you in advance and I look forward to seeing you.…
I suppose I should explain my issue in more depth tonight. Since I've moved to Oklahoma City about three years ago, I haven't made a single gay friend. I've met acquaintances, sure. I've met people that I've tried and tried again to invite to do things, to be friends with, to see - the same people who I see at events that seem to disrespect or dislike me or my husband, the same people that are completely fake about wanting to be friends or hang out in any larger capacity than seeing what they can take advantage of from us or from me, if they're not trying to sleep with me. Otherwise, it's just people that are only interested in me and us for the fact that we often have the money to cover a night out or a dinner out - and never talk to us otherwise.…
Welcome Cool Cats! Parents, We are excited that your child will be in the Cool Cats this year! We hope to not only show them a fun-loving environment, but we hope that your child can come here and learn to be the best they can be in school and in life!…
The value of friendship some say is lost. Some even say a long lasting friendship does not last these days, although just finding a good friend is hard to do because you need a lot of support from one another in a long lasting friendship and a long lasting friendship take a lot of hard work also. I have to say that they are wrong because that changed for me thirty-nine years ago in the Third Grade. It was the year 1977; I was attending Langdon Elementary School in Washington, DC. It was my second year at the School.…
Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…
7 Steps Toward Publishing: How To Get Your Book To Print As A First Author Congratulations! You 've finally finished your first book. Or have you? Is it really ready for print? Is it good enough?…
Profound, huh? I wrote that silly little poem roughly five or six years ago give or take a few. It’s full of some great advice, if I say so myself, but it seems to oversimplify things quite drastically because being happy isn’t all that simple. Life can be full of a lot of horrible things such as endless mental disorders that could be plaguing you, death, addiction, abuse, poverty, sexism, racism, unemployment, or even losing that round you worked really hard on. The list could go on for ages and I could probably fill up my ten minutes just listing off how horrible life can be, but that’s not what the point behind this speech is.…
