School. Not just school, but college! Why did I not go to college right out of high school? The answer is
simple, but common. The classroom was a prison, in my view at least. I was forced to sit in an enclosed
room, and absorb material that I knew would eventually be important, but I just wanted to get through
it. Besides, I really did not know what I wanted to do “when I grow up”. Making money seemed
important enough. Furthering my education was emphasized strongly enough, and if it was I do not
know if I would have listened anyway. Sure I wish I would have made this grand decision sooner, after

Seek, and obtain employment with union-negotiated wages and
benefits, with a minimal education. I, for one, it seems could never obtain such opportunities.
Furthermore, such opportunities are very susceptible to an up and down blue collar based economy. So I
went ahead and spent what now seems too many years, working menial jobs, which normally results in
a checkerboard work history. Now I know what you may be thinking; “a piece of paper does not
guarantee you a job”. For all I know, you may very well be right. But, I have been told by an

There is tremendous difference between going to college in your 40s, and going to college in your late
teens or early 20s. The most significant difference…it has been awhile since I have been in a …show more content…
It seems so simple, yet most of us do not even think about it. Believe me, it assists with the
anxiety, and internal pressures, because for people like myself if there was not at least some internal
pressure, there might not be any caring at all. Besides, I do have some pride, and I do want to succeed.
After all, this endeavor is my part of my future. Besides breathing, running out of doors and working out
are beneficial as well. Running, at least in my view, brings a sense of freedom and working out will force
you to push through barriers that you might otherwise have self-installed. Breathing, running, and
working out does help with keeping a clear focus, otherwise things can and will get lost in translation.
At the end of day, it is all about keeping things perspective, balance, and prioritizing what is important.
Do you want to sleep in on your day off or do you want to get up early and go to school? Do you want to
go out with your friends and drink a few beers on your day off or do want to stay home and study for an
exam? These are just a few of the questions I have had to ask myself. For me, the answers were easy. I
still do not want to
