If there is one thing that I know for sure, it's that when you're born with a sister, you are born with an automatic best friend. A best friend to comfort you when you're scared of the dark, a best friend to laugh with when nobody else gets the joke . It's an accomplice to sit with when you're grounded for....well let's not get into that! It means you always have someone to grimace with when in pain, and even better, someone to smile with on days like today.

I wrote these words for my sister on her wedding day and gladly, today is one of those days that we get to smile together. I can't wait for many more to come as I get to watch my niece and nephew grow! How lucky Teagan and Travis Jr. are to have each other as those auotomatic best friends

Comedic Coping: Dealing with Family Conflict Imagine you trip and fall down the stairs. Do you immediately get up and run away as if nothing happened, blame something for your fall, or do you laugh at yourself, recognizing your fault? As mentioned by Steve Almond in his essay “Funny is the New Deep,” “the comic impulse is what allows us to recognize our sins (personal, cultural, historical) and thereby make moral progress” (Almond 94). This is applied not only in our own lives, but also in literature.…

When my first sibling was born, my role as a child changed. I took on the role as a leader and was very protective of my sister. This is one of the reasons why I think it is in my nature to be a “Mama Bear” and it could be the reason why I strive to be the best person that I could be because I know that I have someone looking up to me. This also could be the reason why I am never really that jealous of my siblings. I always wish to show the idea of love to them.…

Anthony Browne (1946- ) is a well-known author due to his picture books – he has approximately forty picture books to his name-. Among them, The Tunnel is an appropriate example to be considered so as to show the importance of reading picture books. As Browne states “I hope to encourage more children to discover and love reading, but I want to focus particularly on the appreciation of picture books, and the reading of both pictures and words. Picture books are for everybody at any age, not books to be left behind as we grow older. The best ones leave a tantalising gap between the pictures and the words, a gap that is filled by the reader’s imagination, adding so much to the excitement of reading a book” (see URL 5).…

However, during my younger years, it was severely intense between my sister, Samantha, and me; in fact, the battles were so frequent and unnerving, that in 2001 she [Samantha] was forced to reside with our biological father. Scientifically speaking, opposites attract, therefore, when you have two leads of the same identity they would repulse.
