I believe opportunities rise when a person has the ambition and drive to do something great, which also means to be an optimistic person. Currently, in academics and extra-curricular activities, I am able to see so many opportunities and I definitely jump onto all of them that I possibly can in order to achieve my goals of success, respect, and even when I can give back. Of course difficulties and obstacles arrive and create complications, but with certain optimism and determination, these goals can be met now and in the future. For example, I was presented with the choice to take on five Advanced Placement (AP) classes here at my high school; most thought I was out of my mind to take so many, but even with five, I took on an additional “independent course study”, AP United States History. I figured that the opportunity was there, so why not take it? At the end of the year, I was frustrated and eager for the year to be over, but with persistence and optimism, my test results gave me pleasing scores and allowed me to be specially recognized at my high school. I was the only student presented the “Grit Award”, one of the most honorable awards that one could receive. My hard work and opportunistic personality paid off in the end and proved to me that I need to continue this attitude and work hard to achieve my lifetime goals. Even continuing on with my last year of high school, I plan to continue to be opportunistic and continue to strive to achieve my goals. Likewise, in my extra-curricular activities, I will be opportunistic and continue to be apart of our school clubs like MESA (mathematics, engineering, science, and achievement), NHS (National Honor Society), math club, and continue my success with student council. These extra-curricular activities always allow opportunity to be apart of the community and participate in
