Coincidentally, there were three presenters in my class, and one of the presenters was an Interior Designer. She spoke on the duties of an Interior Designer and how exciting it was to visualize and develop conceptual ideas for spaces. To say the least, her presentation sparked a passion in me that already existed. As a result of her appearance, I gained a greater aspiration for designing. After she concluded her presentation, I sort her advice on how to prepare for a career as an Interior Designer, and she willingly offered her advice. In specific, she suggested I take a drafting course, once I entered high school, thus, I earnestly accepted and followed her advice. Naturally, I thoroughly enjoyed the course. In fact, I was an "A" student and discovered that I was reasonably skilled at drafting, space planning, and reading architectural plans. Subsequently, as I grew older I never gave up on my dream. After graduating from high school and completing drafting school, I began a career as a designer. While honing my craft, I worked for several design firms in the area, gaining experience in the design profession, eventually, opening my design firm in 2005. While I have had many successes over the years in my design firm such as building a loyal clientele and working with custom home builders, I was also fueling another passion. As I was building my design firm, I also served as a volunteer outreach and youth leader at my place of worship, where I ministered, teaching and mentoring young attendees. All the while, discovering I had an undeniable knack for relating to and servicing the youth. Regrettably, due to the financial and market crisis, my business endured unexpected setbacks. Because of the setbacks in my business and my desire to become more business savvy, I decided that the opportunity presented itself to advance my craft and increase my business knowledge by returning to school to continue my studies. At first, I thought completing my design degree was the right direction. However, I recognized pursuing both an Interior Design and a Business Management degree would better suit the direction of my career. It is my desired to increase my design capabilities, expand my entrepreneurial practice by increasing my business knowledge, and influence
