Professor Jose Emmanuel Raymundo made very clear expectations regarding attendance, behavior and participation in the beginning of this semester. Attendance was not only essential for adhering to the SRJC’s Attendance Requirements, but also to ensure concrete knowledge and understanding of the provided materials while moving through the course. I made it a priority to come to every single class this semester and I am proud to have achieved that goal. Arriving on time to class was also emphasized and Professor Raymundo provided the quote, “If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late” to showcase his expectations. I arrived early to all but one class this semester so I believe I did my best in reaching this class standard. …show more content…
One of the points highlighted was completing assigned reading before class. In this regard, I can wholeheartedly say that I read every one of the articles in the scheduled readings. I also engaged with the articles by printing out, highlighting, questioning and commenting on the material. However, I will be honest in saying that I did not read every article sent by Professor Raymundo through email and Canvas. Reasons including personal time restrictions and alternate class involvement. That being said, I believe I have had a thorough participation in World Humanities. I have been present and engaged during class discussion and lecture. I have been observant and respectful of teacher and student opinions and stories shared in class. I took several pages of notes each class and moved throughout the class as per recommended by Professor Raymundo. I was strongly interested in and fascinated by all the ideas presented in the material and by Professor Raymundo. There were three times I had inquiries regarding the materials and tests, two of which I visited Professor Raymundo for in his office hours and one in which I reached out to him through email. Opening myself up to receiving constructive criticism was a fear I had for a long time, but I am glad that through my participation and Professor Raymundo’s teachings, I was challenged in such a …show more content…
I stated that my strengths are being action oriented, humorous, confident, disciplined, communicative, outgoing, enthusiastic, friendly, respectful and open-minded. I believe that I showcased most of, if not all, these strengths throughout the semester and I’m confident that these attributes aided in my participation, presence and demeanor during this course. I also stated that I wanted to have an enlightened view of how the trends of art, music, religion and literature, are influenced by political and social movements. Insights into these themes and how they have played out in history were made very clear throughout the semester which broadened my perspectives in global philosophy and social organization. My engagement in the ideas and material presented during this course helped me realize my fascination towards the teachings of sociology, anthropology and the

One experience that shaped my character as a person was my part-time job in high school. I worked as tour guide in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Being a tour guide pushes a person to be open minded and curious about other people. I remember having a tour group from New York City, and we had a great conversation when we were comparing our respective Chinatowns. The conversation had me continuously think of questions and reply to their question with an answer to the best of my ability.…

I have also realized how much my family and I take for granted, and it makes me so much more appreciative to be with them, and to be safe.…

A part of being inducted into the Lambda Pi Eta’s honor society included giving a speech to the rest of the society’s members, as well as the department’s dean and professors. As a possible incoming student, who not only desires to, but needs to learn and attend a favorable campus, the things that I can offer and/or bring are my experiences and skills. I will try to help enrich the campus community as much as I can. Although, my experiences and interests may be easily overlooked by some because of the simple fact that I am “only seventeen,” and that everyone is still continuously evolving. I believe I can still bring something to only help enrich the community. A particular experience that I know differentiates from others is, being Hmong.…

First, the group leader will do a “group check-in”, since I believe the in class check-ins are less personal. Therefore by performing our own group check- ins I believe it will allow each member to go more in depth with how they are feeling, aiding if they want to state any personal issues and or problems that arose within the past week that they would be comfortable sharing. To narrative the check-ins I will have two pictures, one picture of a full beer mug, which represents the good and a second picture with an empty beer mug, which obviously represents the bad. (I will also explain to the group that I decided to choose these pictures due to our group’s main problem and topic. Emphasizing how each member expressed the feelings of loosing grip of their social life, as if it is…

Thou Shalt Attend In high school it was quite apparent that students could receive many absences with little or no consequences and still be able to maintain a good grade point average.
