Based on research from the University of California – Preparing California for Its Future: Students at the community college level that are wanting to transfer to a UC: that there is sufficient information about transfer; what is lacking is the careful organization of that information in ways that help students plan for this transition, along with interfaces, such as Web and Mobile technologies, which better represents how students access, and use college planning information. Students may not realize the implications of ill-advised course selections at their community college until they prepare to apply for transfer at which point they are confronted with the fact that they have not prepared adequately to transfer. Community colleges have different resources to assist students in the planning process by structuring classes, planning class schedules with advisors or counselors for the following semester/quarter, workshops such as: Undecided Major workshops, Financial aid workshops, Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) which is a series of courses that prospective transfer students from California community colleges may use to satisfy the lower division general education requirement at both Cal State and University …show more content…
