This is a non-traditional high school and based on the population and my experience during the fall semester I still think that there is a lot to do here for this particular population (about their age, legal and social status). Everybody seemed very committed to work hard to support these students. It is true that regarding working with them in regular sessions is a challenge for the counselor. I feel it is difficult to work directly with students as probably I could have worked in a traditional school. I am really interested in working with this population and I also feel that if someone wants to learn and understand the immigrant population in other schools in this area and other areas this is a great place to learn.…

As I look back on my middle school to high school years and try to decide what kind of writer I am, how well I can interpret and analyze other writings and text, and how easy it is for me to research and compose a well developed paper I believe I am at the level of English 100. From recent years, especially high school, I have learned what kind of writer I am and what techniques work best for me. When it comes to writing papers I have written a fare share, from research expository writings to persuasive writing. Since I started at Indiana University Kokomo I have taken summer courses every summer semester. I have learned firsthand that the benefits of taking summer courses are twofold. First, taking summer courses help me graduate faster than if I just went the traditional fall and spring route it would take me even longer to graduate. Next, being a psychology major there are a series of special topics courses that are only offered in the summer here. These special topics courses are always very fun and interesting courses to take.…

Advice that I would give to any freshman would be, do your work pay attention and don't skip. Those are my three biggest pieces of advice that I feel any freshman should know. If I knew how much I could have benefitted from this sooner I would have, so here I am telling you, don't skip, pay attention to your teachers and do your work! When you skip, you miss a lot, compared to the Jr. High, your grades go down so easy but to get them up is like walking with 500 pounds on your shoulders. It’s just not worth it.…
