Grade Point Average Essay

To begin with, when I attended Schurr High School I maintained a grade point average in my junior and senior year that was worthy of being awarded with Honor Roll and Renaissance; renaissance was obtained when a student had a grade point average above 2.5. The reason there is no mention of freshman and sophomore year of high school is due to a poor comprehension and a lack of motivation in academics during those years, however, I have corrected my faulty method of thinking and I will not resort to such mentality again. The past is a marker for the future and one does pay the price for any past actions that resulted in a setback. Furthermore, I had Perfect Attendance my freshman and sophomore year, but that was not possible during my junior and senior year given that certain events arose within that time span. …show more content…
That same year I received a book scholarship from the Montebello Council of Parent Teacher Association. At East Los Angeles College in the fall of 2015 I made the Dean’s Honor List and I have maintained a grade point average above 3.0. Although, there is not a lot to my name I intend on pursuing endeavors that will assist in development and growth within the career path intended. I am truly grateful for what I have received and I am proud of what I have accomplished, but I still have a long road ahead of me and I have far more to achieve. With the right amount of determination and exertion anything is possible and I will continue forward in my academics regardless of any

Dear Carolyn Boles Scholarship Committee, I have had a great first semester in college full of learning and meeting new people. I studied extremely hard the entire semester and was determined to get the best grades possible. My favorite class was psychology and I received a very good grade in the class, so I was asked to become a mentor for the class next school year. I also decided to work toward receiving a minor in health psychology because I loved the class so much. In another one of my classes, we learned about different health field careers in order to decide if nursing was right for us since it is such a competitive major at IUPUI.…

I think I should be a part of Mortar Board because I have spent the entirety of my college career working to strengthen my skills in leadership and build on my character. I am very dedicated to my studies, and I make it a priority to excel in all of my classes. While I am already involved in many activities on campus, I am always careful to decide whether I have the time to give to a new organization before joining. I am well aware of the time requirements and level of commitment that would be expected of me as a member of Mortar Board, and I am both able and willing to commit. I think I would be a great addition to Mortar Board because scholarship, leadership, and service are all aspects of my life that are very important to me.…

On the first day of my 4th period Pre-AP Social Science class, my teacher announced that she would be nominating 2 students for a scholarship based on their academic performance and service to the community. For an 8th grader, this seemed to be the most exciting opportunity I had ever heard of. It would allow some separation from my ultracompetitive classmates at one of the top middle schools in California. Even though history was not my forte, I devised a regimen that I would follow. I studied everyday afterschool, spent hours upon hours on projects, and never turned in an assignment without checking it over 3 times.…

Being a member of this distinguished society is what I have strived towards since elementary school. Watching presentations and hearing stories from individuals in high school from a young age (who were at the time active National Honor Society members), inspired the archetype that I aspired to be –the archetype of an individual who shares the four characteristics that National Honor Society stands for: scholarship, service, leadership and character. Throughout my high school career, I worked towards the scholarship aspect. Despite where I am currently, my freshman year had not gone as well as I hoped it would.…

The values and standards of National Honor Society are the four important pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. A person needs to represent all four pillars to uphold the honor of National Honor Society, just like a table with four legs must balance a table. I have developed through the years to be a strong leader, holding the table of scholarship, leadership, service, and character and I would be so very honored to hold this leadership with National Honor Society. Scholarship is holding myself to a high standard, academically and socially. I display a strong sense of scholarship as I have maintained the Highest Honor Roll each grade of my High School career, Middle School and even Elementary School, I love to learn!…
