B. The Project/Job/Tasks and My Role

My service for Grade A Plus, Inc. is twofold. First, I serve as a tutor during academic sessions. I sit alongside a student as they complete their assigned homework – available to them should they have questions; however, our goal is to guide them into becoming independent learners. Should a student not have assigned homework, we will work on general mathematics or English, the difficulty of the assignment being based on their grade level.

“Homeless on Campus” In the magazine article “Homeless on Campus”, Bader uses pathos and ethos to help inform the audience about the plight of homeless college students, and bring them to attention. The article was mainly directed at college administrators and educators, and secondly to people who worked in financial aid. While at St. Ambrose have taken maximum credit loads to keep me on track for the 2 + 3 occupational therapy program. Although my hard work has landed me a spot amongst some of the finest peers, and faculty in the OT program I feel as if there has been something lacking from my education here at St. Ambrose. In the article, "A's for Everyone!" Alicia C. Shepard discussed her distress over the number of students that expected to be handed an A at the university she taught at. The new student organization in which I am taking a leadership role in is the Sales & Strategy Organization (SSO). The University of Maryland is an incredible educational institute and has provided me and family with opportunities I will forever be grateful for. However, one thing that I have seen, especially with my internship on Wall Street is that many students at large public universities like Maryland often never learn emotional and social intelligence and the value that adds to any career path. Many students do not understand that the real learning occurs outside the classroom through practice and that creating opportunities is a skill.…

When I was little, I wanted to be a chemist. I imagined myself in the lab coat and with goggles on, carefully pouring electric blue liquids and jade green foam back and forth into various containers, until something had exploded and I had discovered the best way to make flowers the size of people. As I grew up, I lost this fantasy, but I gained more knowledge on how I wanted to influence the world. Funnily enough, I discovered what I really wanted to do when I started working at Chick-fil-A during the summer before my sophomore year. All of my friends had warned me against working in fast food, quoting horrible smells and ridiculous customers and tons of grease.…

As I reflect on my personal life I value life itself to the point I live each day not knowing what to expect the next day.
