Songs on the radio, our phones, and in church have a huge impact on us. We always have this music stuck in our heads whether we want it there or not. Do you ever have a song that no matter what, when it comes on you can’t skip it? That’s how I feel about the song Gracious Tempest. Whenever it comes on my playlist I stop whatever I’m doing and worship. I’ve mentioned before in journals and discussions that music means so much to me, more than I could ever explain. If I’m being honest, the music I listen to doesn’t always reflect the life that I live in my Christian faith. But this song is a song that’s on my normal playlist not my ‘Church music’ one. One thing that will never not fascinate me about our heavenly father is that his love is unwavering no matter the circumstance. This song sheds a light on what the bible says in Titus 3:4-5 “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit” (ESV). Honestly I didn’t have a solid idea about how I felt about Christianity going into middle school and early high school. I had been through a lot, and I felt as if God was just sitting there laughing at my pain. Unbeknownst to me that wasn’t it at all. When we are going through hard things we tend to blame God and feel like he doesn’t hear us. We feel entitled to have our problems fixed instantly, and when that doesn’t happen we get angry at God when in reality he doesn’t owe us anything. We could have it a lot worse than we do.
