Reflect on your lesson. Respond to the following questions.

What went well?
• Overall I think this lesson went really well. The students really enjoyed being able to have a hands on activity that they got to discuss and explore with their classmates. They also liked the song that I played at the beginning of the lesson. This class responds very well when we incorporate music into their learning.
What would you change?
• If I were to do this lesson again I would like to be able to introduce the main idea by using a book that the students are currently reading or have read in class. For example the class is reading a chapter book right now for their daily read

However, I would begin with a read-aloud activity with the class. Then I would spread the teachings from Boundless Grace out over the course of the week. The next lesson would be the sequence of events. From there I would have the next lesson focus on the main idea and supporting details. Once the students have completed these two activities, I would begin a lesson on problem-solving.…

For this rotation I taught the Real Care Baby lesson. IN this lesson the students watched a visual video that gave them an overview of what the Real Care Baby is all about. Then they got pulled out in groups to complete the “one Minute” baby challenge. This challenge required the students to stop the baby from crying in one minute. This required following directions, collaboration, completion of the challenge, and critical thinking skills.…

Vocal warm-ups are exercises that prepare the voice for specific activities such as singing or acting. Though scientific data doesn't really convince one of the benefits of it, vocal warm-up exercises are still performed by many as a way of warming up their voice before use. Personally, we feel the difference when we warm up our voices before we sing or even teach a class. In the world of acting, a vocal warm up can help with line memorization, speech, pronunciation, enunciation and even accents and dialects.…

In the course, Celebrate Thorough Reading, I had to reflect on a reading goal that was important to me. The goal that I chose was reading aloud to your students. Shared book reading has been linked to emergent literacy. With this being said, when teachers read to students they are leaning how to recognize letters and understand that print represents a spoken word (Duursma, Augustyn, Zuckerman, 2009). Shared reading is one of the important ways to teach children how to read and understand print concepts.…

I found it fairly easy to have the student make connections to themselves with the stories I picked. I feel that I learned a lot about my organizational skills in this class. I have a lot to work on regarding my organization that will only help me in the future. I also struggled with time management, I tend to create lesson plans that took longer than what time we had allotted which is another skill I need to work on. When I am in my own classroom I need to make sure I am not running over time because I will have a full schedule every day.…

To listen to a piece of music does not necessarily mean that you have understood the ideas and/or emotions musicians and composers are trying to convey. Through this class, you have not only taught me how to describe music, and Its effects but how our own individual experiences influence how we interpret, and react to music. When first I began taking music classes in high school, I was not taught how to listen to music correctly and how to describe how it affected me. I would often find myself zoning out and struggling with describing what the music sounded like, and I would never pay attention to how it made me feel. Now, I can stay that I am more aware of what I am listening to and how it affects me.…

When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.”…

I would identify a specific major area of learning to be addressed through this lesson. Selecting this specific objective (theme) will require me to target a grade level and correlate the lessons content and grade level to the correct state standard. Targeting a grade level helps me to help students relate to the lesson on their level. If the student is initially able to relate to the lesson on their level, I can then infuse higher level thinking into the lesson which will enable students to develop questions on a higher level and assist with students interpreting ideas from a variety of…

The positives of my teacher were present mainly in terms of motivation. The students (My peers) praised me on the positive re-enforcement I gave them during the lesson. I also believe another strength of mine is questioning, this is incredibly important as Vygotsky theorized that children learn better when given structured and analytical questions by the teacher. I think I scaffolded the children well into the activity.…

Reflecting on Teaching During my time at Connersville Middle School, I feel that I have grown as a teacher. I have enjoyed my experience and feel that I have really grown into a teacher by accepting the responsibilities of a teacher. Each day I cannot wait to get into the classroom and I have gained trust and formed relationships with my students and the staff of the building. After completing my teach week and being in the classroom the past couple of months I now have the anticipation of wanting to be in my classroom and teaching my own class and I can’t wait until spring semester where I get the opportunity to teach for a large chunk of time in a classroom that becomes mine.…

Teaching an art lesson was kind of new for me, as I have never seen my CT integrating art into an academic subject. Moreover, it was a challenge for me to create an art class integrated with an academic subject. When I spoke to my CT about creating an integrated art lesson she told me that it will be better for me to teach an art lesson separated from an academic subject, so I spoke to the ancillary teacher to allow me to teach an art class during their time period. The computer teacher allow me to do that, but only gave me one class period to give out an art lesson.…

This semester I have been taking a class called Earth Science for Teachers. It is a class that is geared towards elementary education majors. In this class I have had the opportunity to work in a first grade class room at Saint Marks Catholic School and mentor a few students in designing and completing a science fair project. I have been in the same class room 4 times for 2 hours each. Each time that I have been there I have observed the many amazing and creative ways of teaching.…
