Grace Christian Journey-Coming Home Analysis

The beginning of a journey - Coming home from LINC, I spent a lot of time reflecting on the greatest summer of all time. Often wondering if God would use me the same way he did in Orlando, I got a chance to catch up with my pastor here in Raleigh, Berk Wilson, and it was then he offered me an opportunity of a lifetime. Berk offered me a staff position with Grace Community Church of Cary. After much prayer and consideration. I gladly accepted the position and started the necessary steps to make it official. Just recently I was officially hired by Global Service Network. Global Service Network partners with like-minded servants of Christ within campus ministries, churches, cross-cultural missionaries, Christian professionals, Seminaries, and …show more content…
Pastor Berk's vision for the team immediately resonated with me and became my focal point for when I came back to Raleigh. I and another student a part of Grace Christian Life, co-lead this wonderful team of upperclassmen who have really exhibited what the Apostle Paul spoke of in 1 Thessalonians 2:8. We have made it a goal to not only share the gospel with freshmen we come in contact with, but to share our very own lives. To date the group is doing well, a solid group of 8-10 Freshmen that meet throughout the week in various small group bible studies led by Freshmen Connection Team members. Last month I had the opportunity to take several freshmen guys out to Brixx Wood Fired Pizza to watch an NC State football game. Talk about a great time! Recently, my roommate and I (who is also a part of the FC team) started bringing a freshman, who the Lord allowed me to see pray to receive Christ at the beginning of the semester, to come workout with us and play basketball. As a team we are gearing up for our biggest event of the semester, A Progressive Dinner on November 21st. Please pray that everything goes smoothly and that our team continues to connect with more

    Sidra Zimmerman Ministry Project

The People and the Situation As was first mentioned in my ministry group project proposal, the group I chose was my own small group. When the project first started, it consisted of roughly 10 men and women, most members of my Southern Baptist church who meet weekly to suss through the week’s sermon together. Interestingly enough, most of us had been raised in some semblance of a Christian home, though our experience within that “Christian” community varied.…

A couple weeks ago, Holy Ghost had its annual service trip to the Dominican Republic. I had heard about the trip from Dr. O’Connor when I did the summer enrichment program in 6th grade. I looked forward to going on the trip when I got to Ghost, and I got the chance this summer. At first I was really nervous, but by the second day there I realized how special the trip truly is. I got to give my Spanish a jog, I got to meet a ton of new people, and I had my eyes opened to a new way of living.…

My cohort and I left for New Orleans a couple of days early due to a booking error, however we had planned on going on an excursion anyway so it worked out just fine. It was amazing to hear the history behind some of the plantations and to walk the same halls that these people walked in 170 plus years ago. The view from Oak Alley was breath taking a symbol that still stands as a testament to the South’s golden age. The trees were planted a 100 years before the land was purchased and a home was even built. The house is built completely around the twenty-six with twenty-six pillars that surround the house, twenty-six windows that open so that fresh air can blow through the hot humid house.…

I had similar experience, which was explained in No.1, on the edge of entering. I was church shopping when I came to the USA 20 years ago. I went to almost every church in the town. I didn’t feel welcomed, most churches wanted to convert me to Christianity in spite of telling them I am a Christian. For most of them since I am from India I am a Hindu and I need to be converted to Christianity.…

    1. Figure 4.3, Going Home by Jacob Lawrence. This piece was created in 1946, and was painted with gouache, which is an opaque type of watercolor. I personally did not like this piece, I’m not a fan of the medium used, but nevertheless I found it interesting. In my opinion, the low value and intensity of the yellows and greens are unappealing, I think they make this train or bus seem outdated and old, or just dirty.…

There is no feeling more valuable than beginning a new journey in a place where students are authentic, support one another, and challenge each other. I believe that California Baptist University is the door to such an opportunity. At CBU I will pursue my gifts in music, create relationships that will sow great seeds, and grow deeper in my knowledge of God. Firstly, I hope to be a part of the School of Music at CBU because of my experience and skills in music and the music industry. I am in the Guitar Ensemble at Riverside City College, taking private lessons in guitar and voice with my instructor in classical, jazz, pop, and many other genres.…

My main goal is to shape young people into disciples filled with Bible knowledge and to help send them out in the world to witness to the unsaved. I plan to do this by combining the discipleship model and the ministry model talked about by Richard R. Dunn in his book, “Reaching A Generation For Christ”. He states that the philosophy of the discipleship model as, “The discipleship model trains students to be God’s people in an ungodly world, equipped with Bible study and prayer skills developed in a caring atmosphere with a view to reproducing their Christian lives in other” (175). This philosophy would be fulfilled by small groups or “trainings” held on a weekly basis. I would like to keep a very close, relational youth group.…

Calvary Commission, the seminary that I stayed at, is located a few miles out of town on a land that seems to never end. I could walk miles and still find myself to be on Calvary Commission’s property. The first day I was there, my group and I went on a little hike up to the prayer chapel, which sat on the top of a hill, surrounded by trees, and a bonfire pit stood a few feet away. This was my group’s first real exposure to how great the people at Calvary Commission are.…

For my pastoral interview, I choose to interview the Senior Pastor of Huntington Central Church (Disciples of Christ) Rev. Jacque Parlato. I started the interview by asking Pastor Jacque to describe her call to ministry. More precisely I asked her to describe her calling from the time she first received it up until now. During this question Pastor Jacque began by telling me about her background and early life. She informed me that she was born and raised in Santiago California, to parents that she described as people who didn’t have everything put together.…

The one verse I will forever live by is Psalm 143:8, “Let the morning bring the word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life”. This verse tells me that I do not need to fear about singing in front people, or fear befriending people, or fear leading others, or fear anything in this world because the moment I gave my heart to God, He continually held onto it with such a delicacy. He knows that I trust and have faith in Him, and likewise, I know He trusts and has faith in me. Many people do not think about God having faith and trust in them, but He does.…
