The beginning of my undergraduate career is not impressive and not worthy of holding the title of a PA. A student’s GPA is important in order to be accepted into a medical school or any other healthcare professional school, I was well aware of that, but I did not hold the maturity to excel in my academia. However, I’m grateful to realize my mistake halfway through my semester and searched for help to turn the downhill route my grades were taking. In attempts to remedy my subpar GPA, I added a second major to help with my overall GPA; however, I did not choose a major that would be considered easy, but I chose Psychology, a major that is challenging. It soon became evident of my success in throughout the rest of my undergraduate years. The opportunity

Going to school for about 180 days of my entire 365 in a year for 13 years of my life has unquestionably taken a toll on my brain. From Monday to Tuesday to Wednesday to Thursday to Friday attending class every single week. This process begins to become tedious beyond belief. For some, this process becomes unbearable and the solution for them is either test out or just drop out. However as tedious as a school has become, I stumbled upon a new area of interest that reignited my thirst for knowledge: psychology.…

My heart drops when I look at this essay, knowing my undergraduate academic performance was average at best yet I excelled academically during my postbaccalaureate program. I don't think my GPA accurately reflects my potential or my abilities because I started college when I was 17 and graduated when I was 21, and as a young person in college I often thought and reasoned like a young person. I didn't study as much as I should have and was concerned with to many things other than schools. That is no ones fault but my own, but I have a grown up alot since that time. I don't party everyday, any more. I am a lot more focused and I quite drinking.…

After graduating from high school I explored my artistic side by achieving a degree in jazz, and while in school, I developed a love for audio engineering which I pursued independently. I ended up devoting more of my time to my extracurricular activity than to my studies, and while I succeeded at audio engineering, my grades suffered. After graduating, I rediscovered my passion for medicine, and recognized the scholastic necessity and competitiveness of my new pursuit. My drive to become a physician assistant inspired me to focus on my studies, making education a top priority. My academic aptitude, ability to excel in a rigorous physician assistant program, and devotion to becoming a physician assistant have been proved through my post-baccalaureate…

When I came to OU, I had little sense of belonging. While I may have loved my Camp Crimson family and was a member of the President’s Leadership Class, I felt alone more often than I felt supported or comforted, because I didn’t fit in with many of my peers. I come from a different background than many students here at OU—I grew up in poverty, my family is riddled with addiction, and I am a first generation student. These circumstances set me apart and often times our differences lead to me being excluded from various social groups. It wasn't until my building’s safewalk, Muneeb Ata, reached out to me that I even began to consider my residence hall as a social group.…

I am writing to request a complete course withdrawal for courses taking Spring 2016. During Spring 2016 I encountered challenges that hindered my ability to perform at my best academic ability; I believe that the marks I had received were a result of my circumstances. Several circumstances greatly impacted my academics and GPA at the beginning of my college career, which led me to withdraw from two courses and ultimately, fail one. Without these experiences, I feel that my GPA would have been significantly higher, as I would have initially devoted more focus to my grades. First, I came to the University of Arizona as a 16-year-old student with unexplored emotional trauma. Due to my father’s drug addiction, my parents were in the midst of a legal separation during my first two years of college, in which they both separately and inappropriately confided their emotions to me while I tried to focus on school. Consequently, this separation affected me emotionally, sending me into a depression that made it difficult to focus on coursework.…

I will be the first to admit that my academic GPA score may not be ideal. But in saying so I do not believe that I am any less qualified than another candidate. The background, opportunities, thought process, and learning pace of others differs from my own. Our goal, however, is shared. My hunger to succeed and achieve my goals – including by not limited to obtaining my medical degree and preferably servicing an underserved community – come from a strong belief that I have no limitations other than those that impose on myself. This hunger also comes from realizing that through both achieving and failing, I can continue to grow and better myself. The program appeals to me because of the level of excellence that is expected of students like myself who have worked hard but require additional scientific coursework and preparation to begin our journey to medical school.…
