“The Kansas Supreme Court on Thursday gave the state until June 30 to fix its system of financing public schools, or face a court-ordered shutdown before the next school year begins.”(Bosman) The kansas court has finally put a stop to Brownback's terrible situation with school money. Brownback and his team have not distributed money well enough to keep the schools stable. Brownback has tried to fix the old system but he just made it worse.“The legislature’s unsuccessful attempts to equitably, i.e., fairly, allocate resources among the school districts not only creates uncertainty in planning the 2016-2017 school year” (Bosman) This is what the court said was the reason for this possible shutdown. This is a very good thing yes it may set back the school year, but it will fix the problem that is destroying Kansas. Not only is Brownback cutting money from schools he is also taking money out of teacher’s retirement funds. this is something that hits home for a lot of people, because this is taking money that they have worked for and saved away from them. That is the last straw for many teachers because teachers retirement funds are not great as it is and now it is getting smaller. “John S. Robb, a lawyer for the school districts and parents who are suing the state, estimated that the Legislature would have to add $73 million to the system to satisfy the court.”(Bosman) No doubt that some of that money is …show more content…
In a response to his policies 61% of the felt he completely failed. Only 7% thought he succeeded at all in his policies. That is a very hard thing to do to get those numbers that low. Brownback has a approval rating of 18% which is very low for a republican in a republican state. It is so low President obama a Democrat is out polling him in kansas at 28%. The biggest problem he has is the schooling system. Brownback has cripple the schooling system. He has not only cut from the school funds but he has also started taking money from the teachers retirement funds. This hits home for a lot of people because it is money that the teachers have saved for themselves. One other major problem is that he has decided to use private emails and phones. This means that the public can not see what he is saying most of the time we can only know what he does. It is the same problem that hillary clinton has and is in the mainstream media. In the end Brownback has really taken to high of a risk becoming

Before, the Texas governor had very little power at his disposal compared to other state governors, but that has changed in recent times. Now, when ranked amongst the other fifty states, Texas stands about midpoint of gubernatorial powers. As of right now, the governor has roughly about seven roles, consisting of five formal roles and two informal roles but there are many limitations and obstacles that are present. Unfortunately, not many Texans are aware of the limitations imposed on the governor and thus look to the chief executive of state for leadership. Those that do know are divided between those who do believe that Texas should increase the power of the governor and those who oppose the idea of giving them more power.…

One third of all the land in the United States is owned by the federal government, and 90 percent of that land is in the Western United States. The federal government currently manages over 30 million acres of public lands in Utah. A number of politicians and stakeholders claim that the federal government is mismanaging public lands and should relinquish control to Utah. This is not a brand new concept for Utah, but has become more of a possibility in recent years through the Utah Public Lands Initiative and House Bill 148. The legislation would entail the federal government handing over 30 million acres of land to the state of Utah which would enable Utah to sell the land to developers and essentially open up millions of acres to extractive…

Nevertheless, when their duties are thoroughly examined, the Texas governor has enough liberty given in his or her position where significant policy changes can still be made. The governor is executively responsible for appointing qualified candidates to state office positions, submitting an executive budget to the legislature, and being the commander in chief of the state’s military forces when not under the order of the President. Legislatively, the governor can veto and sign legislation, both post-adjournment veto and line-item veto, can call special sessions of the legislature, and has the message power. The governor doesn’t have much judicial power, only able to appoint vacant seats and limited powers to grant reprieves with the approval of the Board of Pardons for convicted individuals (Abbott,…

Public school funding also helps provide reduced and free meals to students who qualify. What a lot of people don’t know is where all of this money is coming from and who is paying for it.…
