Revenue helps the government with roads, buildings, and other structures. This is why the government relies on income taxes. Without taxes, none of these items are available and taxing the wealthy more allows for better progression in these areas. According to the United States Department of the treasury, the middle class has been paying a fair share. The poor has also been paying a fair share, but the people of the United States are keeping their eyes out on the rich’s part of tax paying. The rich themselves even believe they are not paying enough. Progressive tax policies are meant to make the wealthiest pay more in proportion to their actual wealth. While taxes are for governmental and economic purposes, the rich should pay more taxes than they already do. (Treasury, 2010) The price of a “civilized society” is that taxes are a necessary evil. Whether this is believable or not, it is undeniable that the price of taxes are high . Progressive tax policies are meant to make the wealthiest pay more in proportion to their actual wealth. Progressive taxes help pay for education and programs that help build it. For the past century, progressive taxes have been the best help to the government. The progressive policy goes to many places, such as, allowing the wealthy to pay back the government, and help support common resources like the police and firefighters. (Wonderopolis, 2014)
Taxes allow for the poor to make their upward mobility, stopping the creation of civil unrest.…
