The Importance Of Helping Homelessness In Seattle

In Seattle there has been an increasing population of homeless people. I see them in almost every neighborhood. Many time there are more than one person to a street corner. As the population of the homeless increase, the more I don’t know how to help. I want to give them money but giving them money leaves me unsure about what they are going to do with it. Money could be helpful or harmful. I know that there are government funded programs like homeless shelters or food banks that are supposed to help the homeless. But I don’t know exactly what ways they are helping. I would like to know more and see if the government is doing helpful things to get them off the streets and back into society. I think that the government, which includes the mayor and people who work for the government, like social workers and police officers, should be helping the homeless and making it possible for them to re-enter society as every day people. I live in Seattle which is a huge city. There are sections in this city where homeless people are more often around. Some places would be the district of Sodo, or Ballard, or Northgate. I live closest to Northgate, and every time I drive by intersections close to these areas, there is always someone sitting on the street corner asking for money. When I was younger, I would see some homeless people from time to time, but not every time I crossed an intersection Every place I go there are people asking for money and needing help from others to live. Since I have lived in the same place for all of my life, I have seen the homeless population increase very dramatically. It looks to me that nothing is being done to help these people who can’t help themselves. I don’t get why the population has increased but I want to know what the government is doing to decrease
