Assess The Difference Between Democracy And Dictatorship Governments

Government plays an important role in a countries development and sustainability. It elects members who make decisions which may or may not benefit the country. This power is given to members through different types of government. Two major types of governments are democratic and dictatorship governments. Differences between the two types of governments is that democratic governments allow citizens residing in the given country to cast votes based on political parties running for the government. Dictatorship on the other hand is a government run by a small party or most of the time one single individual. Leadership is usually not appointed but taken. It is usually concluded that a democratic government is superior to dictatorship. However, it is up to the citizens to choose and vote for who they think would be a good leader who would benefit their country. Voting is an essential part to any democratic government. USA Today ran a poll in 2012 and asked Americans what they thought about politics in America. Their top results were: “Nothing ever gets done; it’s a bunch of empty promises” (59%), “It is so corrupt” (54%), “There’s not a dime’s worth of difference between Democrats and Republicans” (42%), “It doesn’t make much difference in my life” (37%). These poll results show some of the reasons why Americans don’t vote. Americans may feel that their vote will not make a difference as others may just follow a majority. Others will also feel that the politicians will make promises about what they will do when they get elected and simply not keep those promises or not act on them. Also, some might feel that companies or people who fund these campaigns will have an influence on the views of the party and thus corrupt the countries
