Director Comparative Analysis When looking for a director I started by searching for one that did the genre that I love so much. This genre being comedy and while searching I came across a director by the name of Tom Shadyac. He is a director known for his comedic films and collaborations with Jim Carrey and Eddie Murphey. The Three films I choose by him were “The Nutty Professor”, “Ace Ventura: The Pet Detective”, and “Bruce All Mighty”. All three of these films come from the same origin of comedy with a main character being multiple people in the movie or just simply being in multiple places. The main character is always involved in every conflict some kind of way. In his films I noticed he loves to dress the main character up in multiple costumes and portray him in many different ways rather it be to trick characters in the movie or to make the audience think that it’s an actual different character. For example in Ace Ventura, the main character being a pet detective who tried to save abused or uncared for animals, was dressed as a delivery guy in the very first scene to in fact distract who he was delivering the package to in order to secretly rescue the mistreated dog. In “Bruce Almighty”, to himself he was portrayed as a God and had these special powers and he noticed them

He also works with some of the greatest actors to ever do it. I think him being ranked #67 in the worldwide aggregate box office numbers with only directing seven films is pretty good. With a gross amount of $1,574,578,772 in sales I’d say he’s still filthy rich. He works particularly in comedy film with him being a comedian himself. I think they types of story’s he likes to write are main character based films meaning the conflict will mostly be within the main character

The movie titled "Liberty: 3 Stories About Life & Death" follows the lives and stories of three close friends whose appetite for life and struggles with illness and death are recorded in three separate parts. While the film exposes the sadness and tragedy that is associated with life-threatening disease and its consequences, it is also a beautiful story that explores deep connections in a close circle of lesbian friends who, despite the adversities, celebrate family, love, and life. The first part of the film, titled "Death to Life," tells a story of 66-year-old Joyce Fulton whose terminal two-year battle with brain cancer is documented in portrayed as moving backward in time. The part begins with Joyce laying on her death bed as she is surrounded by her lesbian ‘family' members who all gathered to celebrate her life and be there for her in her death.…

In the second phase of Soderbergh’s career, the characters’ personal connection to the director becomes even less visible and the stories becomes more symbolic. Soderbergh films are all personal but they not necessarily about his own life. Soderbergh said that his real tuning point was, “I wasn’t interesting in making film about me anyone, but instead my take on things.” Soderbergh’s films moved away from the characters life and more to the issues of craft.…

The cinematic style of a director is his or her fingerprint. It is wholly unique to that specific director, and even the best attempts to mimic another director’s style are not entirely successful. The esteemed director Tim Burton uses his own unique style to enrich his films with meaning and complexity. However, his use of styles is not equal and balanced, for he draws heavily upon grayscale and dark imagery. He uses these colors as a polarizing agent to enhance the movement of the plot without regard to aesthetics, while keeping the film pleasing to his audience’s senses.…

The poor in American Society are the victims of the social theory referred to as CONFLICT THEORY. The theory explains that the social STRATIFICTION SYSTEM is not functioning properly and the rich benefit more from the governmental decisions at the expense of the disadvantaged, those who rightly need the assistance. This theory is shockingly apparent in the Frontline documentary “Poor Kids”. This film follows the lives of three families’ struggling to deal with life’s most crippling situations the best way they can. The film demonstrates that being poor is not always a question of a PERSONAL PROBLEM related to the ABUSE of drugs or alcohol, but of a SOCIAL PROBLEM with unemployment, lack of job opportunities, and in this particular film, recession.…
