Gospel Worship Song Essay

Decent Essays
I think that featuring a gospel worship song once a month is a great idea. However, I would take it a step further and also add an international worship song along with a gospel song. On the pamphlet that you gave us about CCLI it stated that “CCLI encourages worship within churches throughout the world” and “CCLI serves over 250,000 churches, schools, and other ministries and organizations in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, South America, South Korea, Europe and the U.S.”. If you also add an international worship song on the website, it will help to diversify worship music around the world which will help unify the body of Christ.

The theme of music is depicted in the scenes of Cooking’ with Aunt Ethel, The Gospel According to Miss Roj, and The-Last-Mama-on-the-Couch. We could hear music of Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and the Temptations. Including music from these artist adds to the importance gospel music has on African-American culture and overall U.S history because stereotyping is also seen in some of the scenes. In Cooking with Aunt Ethel the Blues is mainly heard, and although we focus on Gospel music, Blues origin dates back to the slave trading and Africans bringing their musical tradition of spirituals over. We see Aunt Ethel throwing in ingredients of style, rhythms, attitude, “oops I put to much, don't ask me what to do with the batch of…

The future of The Beatles was threatened when in 1966 member John Lennon said, “We’re more popular than Jesus now.” This controversial remark was plastered across all mass media and set off “protests, death threats and the end to the Beatles’ touring career” (Rolling Stone 2016). Datebook, an American teen magazine, reprinted Lennon’s “more popular than Jesus now” remark and it led to a “Beatle boycott.” Families and members of the Christian church burned Beatles records and put on protests to help prevent others from purchasing or listening to any Beatles music.…

The process of sermon formation takes on a different character for each preacher, a character as unique as the preacher themselves. The best approaches to preaching put the text first and allow the Holy Spirit through the text determine the best way to preach a particular passage. My personal approach to sermon formation has evolved over time as I have grown in my Christian walk, as my knowledge of the Bible and as I gain more experience as a preacher. My approach has especially evolved after having the opportunity to apply many of the concepts that were studied in the course of this semester. For Joe Horness contemporary music-driven worship is a style presented in the language of this generation. This view is often seen as a rebellion against traditional worship. Horness disagrees with this idea and argues the contemporary style builds upon the foundation laid by tradition. The point of this style is to connect people with God. It does this by engaging with the language of the world today.…

The St Matthew Passion is a sacred song that was written by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1727. It has interspersed chorales and arias as it sets to music chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel of Matthew (Leahy, 2011). It is a great masterpiece of classic gospel music of all time. Three different excerpts of the music are analyzed in this paper with a special focus on the form, texture, harmony, relationship between text and music, and the dramatic significance. The main purpose for writing the song was to present the Passion story in music during the Good Friday Vesper services (Jones, 2013).…

The heart, mind, and soul are components of spiritual transformation in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Secondly, worship is loving others, as example of God’s love for the world, (Jn. 3:16, EVS).…
