Theologically, the deity of Christ is defined by the Trinity as one God with three distinct personalities. Jesus Christ, second person of the Trinity, possesses the same divine attributes and infinite existence as the Father and the Holy Spirit. Christian theology affirms that without the pre-existence and divinity of Christ, incarnation could not occur. As a result, the promise of salvation as defined in the covenant of the Old Testament could not materialize.
