The Gospel of Matthew is mainly written for Jewish people to show that Jesus fulfils the promises of the Old Testament. However the Gospel of Mark is written for Gentiles or non-Jews, explaining the Jewish customs and words.Since the Gospel of Mark was intended for Gentiles, it does not include a genealogy of Jesus but instead, describes Jesus’ adult life, which is evidently shown at the beginning of the gospel, “The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” On the other, the gospel of Matthew significantly refers to the very beginning, “An account of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham.” It portrays every single piece of important information whereas in the Gospel of Mark, there’s no genealogy at all and importantly mentions the good news. Although the gospel of Mark may not be directed towards Christian audiences, both gospels definitely plays a major role in enriching the lives of Christians as it provided specific principles to follow and how God can somehow relate to them, giving them encouragement and inspiration. “Jesus said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?”, outstandingly draws out Jesus from both Gospels differently, educating Christians and enriching them with two different perspectives.
To conclude, the portrayal of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew and Mark significantly enriches lives
