The Gorillaz is a virtual “zombie hip-hop” and the most popular cartoon band that can be cited currently. It was founded by Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn (co-creator of Tank Girl). They created four fictional cartoon characters based on avatars. Each cartoon has a distinct personality. Rumors say the band is made up of 6 members- three producers, one animator, one singer and one producer. We went digging and found out the group is made of thirteen members. Yes, thirteen!! Two actual members, four virtual members, and seven live members. The actual members or the co-creators are Hewlett and Albarn; the current virtual members are Russel, Noodle, Murdoc and 2D; the live members are Cass Brown, Mick Jones, Gabriel Wallace, Jesse Hacket, Paul Simonon, Jeff Wootton and Mike Smith.
However, Albarn is the only permanent member. Another intriguing fact is the virtual members have their personalities and are not associated with any real members’ personalities. The Gorillaz have truly shown the importance of teamwork.
