Gorilla Persuasive Speech

If you 're on social media then I 'm sure you 've recently witnessed the controversy surrounding the death of A 17-year-old gorilla named Harambe. He was shot and killed after a 3-year-old boy fell in his enclosure. This supposedly happened when the mother was snapping a picture for a split second; he got away, ran in, and fell in the enclosure. Though the gorilla appeared to be gentle at first, it was reported that the gorilla became agitated by the onlookers who were screaming; consequently, he started aggressively dragging the little boy through some water which surrounded the enclosure. This horrific event continued for about ten minutes. Though the gorilla might not have meant harm, he certainly was handling the boy in a way that could have harmed him. It wouldn 't have been very difficult for a 400-pound gorilla to harm a 40-pound-child, even unintentionally. After about 10 minutes of the gorilla dragging him back and forth, it was decided that the best decision was to shoot the gorilla. The reasoning behind this decision is the fear …show more content…
Since the gorilla wasn’t leaving him alone, I would have begged them to shoot the animal without a second thought. Why? Because I value my child’s life more than the gorilla. A gorilla is an animal, not a human being. Although I wouldn’t have wanted the gorilla to die, I would have been forced to make a decision in an possibly life-threatening situation. Human beings are made in the image of God and therefore have more inherent worth than anything else on the planet. That is the crux of the issue right there. As image-bearers of God we are more valuable and more important than animals. We are not animals. God’s word commands that a person who intentionally murders another person must receive the death penalty. He also says the same thing for an animal. However, nothing is written about taking the life of an animal by a human. Why is that? Because we aren’t on the same level of
