Ramsay: King of the Kitchen "Away from the cameras, he was as good as gold" is a confounding comparison for the outrageous Gordon Ramsay (James). This acknowledged chef has earned his place in the culinary world through hard work and determination. Although several people believe Gordon Ramsay is a cruel, heartless man, he is a compassionate chef, who promotes human rights, exposes illegal practices, and brings awareness to domestic violence. A diversity of influences helped shape Gordon Ramsay into an ambitious chef. Born on November 8, 1966, he quickly moved from his home in Glasgow, Scotland, to an unmeasurable timeline of different homes (Biography.com Editors). He also received the Newcomer of the Year award in 1995 from the Catey Awards. Ramsay earned a three Michelin star rating in 1998 and released his first book. Throughout the following years, he continued to open more restaurants and released more books. He first appeared on television on the British Boiling Point documentary and became a tremulous success. He received the Chef of the Year award in 2000. Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmare television series began in 2004. Since he gained an astounding amount of success in the United Kingdom, he began a new show in the United States called Hell's Kitchen USA in 2005 (Biography.com Editors). Queen Elizabeth ll award him the Order of the British Empire award for his contributions in the culinary world ("About Gordon"). He later created a new version of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares in the U.S. called Kitchen Nightmares in 2007 (Biography.com Editors). He also has three other shows called MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, and Hotel Hell in the U.S. In the United Kingdom, he has the shows Gordon Behind Bars, Ultimate Cookery Course, Gordon's Great Escapes, and Gordon Ramsay: Shark Bait ("About Gordon"). He owns twenty-seven worldwide restaurants and has received thirteen Michelin stars (Hedegaard). Ramsay has authored eighteen books, including A Chef for all Seasons, Desserts grandioses, Gordon Ramsay’s Healthy Appetite, Just Desserts, Kitchen Heaven, Passion for Flavour, Passion for Seafood, Gordon Ramsay Makes It Easy, Gordon Ramsay, 3 Star Chef, Gordon Ramsay’s Fast Food, Pasta Sauces, Playing with Fire, Gordon Ramsay’s Sunday Lunch, Gordon’s Ramsay’s Cooking for Friends, In the Heat of the Kitchen, Roasting in Hell's Kitchen, Humble Pie, and Sporting Tastes ("Gordon Ramsay Books List").
