Gordon Hayward Injury/Career

Injuries often occur in the NBA, some are really bad injuries and some are not that horrible. The injury that I’m going to talk about is one of the most horrifying injuries to witness in NBA history. The injury was seen all over the world on national television and seen by 20,562 fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics in Cleveland Ohio. What I am going to talk about in this essay is about Boston Celtics forward Gordon journey to the NBA, Career, and injury.

In an interview on Draft night, Hayward said it was an honor to put on a Jazz jersey and he said he was ready to get on the court. Hayward also said his dream was to play for the Indiana Pacers growing up as a kid in his hometown of Brownsburg Indiana. Hayward ended the season playing 72 of the 82 games and averaged 5.4 points and shooting 47% from the 3 point line. After the 2013/2014 season Hayward became a free agent and was offered a 4 year $63 million deal from the Charlotte Hornets but the Utah Jazz matched the deal and brought back their star player. On January 26 he was named a Western Conference All Star for the first time in his career for the 2017 NBA All Star game. After being swept in the 2017 playoffs by the Golden State Warriors, Gordon Hayward became a free agent. On July 4 2017, Gordon Hayward signed with the Boston Celtics on a 4 year $128 million dollar contract. One of the main reasons Hayward signed with the Celtics is because his College coach Brad Stevens is the coach of the Boston Celtics and Hayward and Stevens have good chemistry. Although Hayward left the Utah Jazz, he still had a good run with the team averaging 18.7 points, 3.4 assists, and 4.2 rebounds a
