In an interview on Draft night, Hayward said it was an honor to put on a Jazz jersey and he said he was ready to get on the court. Hayward also said his dream was to play for the Indiana Pacers growing up as a kid in his hometown of Brownsburg Indiana. Hayward ended the season playing 72 of the 82 games and averaged 5.4 points and shooting 47% from the 3 point line.
