Rhetorical Analysis, “Foreign News at Crisis Point” Peter S. Goodman in the argumentative article, “Foreign News at Crisis Point,” claims that full-time staffers are losing their jobs to contracted writers. Goodman supports his argue by explaining the cause and effects of contracted writers and the issue revolving around precise news information. The authors purpose is to convey that our foreign news policy is lacking in accuracy and needs improvement, considering American workers, job security is assaulted by competition from counterparts on the other side of the ocean. Goodman explains in an urgent tone in order to make the audience aware of the importance of foreign news. In the start of Goodman's article, he asserts the crisis of foreign news police by explaining that credible news of the world is slowly disappearing with each passing day. For example, “Several nonprofit outlets have popped up to finance foreign reporting, and a for-profit outfit, GlobalPost, has dispatched a team of 18 senior correspondents into the field, supplemented by dozens of stringers and freelancers. . .” According to the quote, the foreign news media is contributed by freelancers, a self employed worker who …show more content…
Furthermore, Goodman’s article uses credible statistics to define the crisis of foreign news and reasons with the audience.
