The first sentence paragraph can be an effective tool that can illustrated the core message of the essay. The purpose of beginning paragraph is illustrate the core message of the topic; its either informative, descriptive or narrator. Once the purpose has been set, next the author must illustrate to audience the thesis/theme; which is usual done with a sentence or two. In this article the author decide to use a one-sentence to paragraph as both the introduction and as the thesis/theme. The one-sentence paragraph is effective but could be stronger; in order to make it stronger the author should have introduced the topic, illustrate the key aspects/opinion in relationship to the to the topic being junk food and lastly the author should summarize the overall theme/thesis of the essay itself. In beginning it would have been better if the author introduces the topic/subject and it’s overall history before stating an opinion. It’s important to introduce the topic it allow the reader to understand the subject at hand an example would be junk food. Once type of thesis is established it’s important for it be clear and simple so I audience know exactly point of view that author is disusing.
