Introduction
The movie I chose for the Movie Critique is Good Will Hunting. The characters I plan to analyze are Will Hunting (Matt Damon) & Dr. Sean Maguire (Robin Williams).
Will is young man who struggles to find his identity, living in a world where he can solve any problem, except the one brewing deep within himself, until one day he meets his soul mate who opens his mind and his heart. He was severely abused as a child and has been in trouble with the law ever since. When Will finally agrees to get counseling to keep himself out of jail and with his girlfriend, he meets Sean, the therapist who will change his life. For many antisocial personalities the world is a place fraught with little love and much frustration, a place where they must be on guard against the cruelty of others. People with this disorder may not even want treatment or think they need it. But people with antisocial personality disorder need treatment and close follow-up over the long term. The first therapeutic orientation I would use in the case of Will Hunting and his diagnosis of Antisocial Personality Disorder, would be that of Cognitive Therapy. The reason I believe that Cognitive Therapy would be beneficial in this case is because Cognitive Therapy aims to adjust information processing and initiate positive change in all systems by acting through the cognitive
