The three core tenets of Zoroastrianism are “Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds”. These three things are said to be created by Ahura Mazda, whom Zoroaster stated to be the creator of good.13 The antithesis of Ahura Mazda is Angra Mainyu, who is said to be the creator of evil. Their conflict involves all beings, and those who follow Angra Mainyu will be destroyed when the good of Ahura Mazda envelops everything. This dualism of good and evil is also present in the progressive sect’s teachings, who instead see that the conflict of good and evil is instead an ethical one, existing in the minds of all. As in many religions, there is a presence of an afterlife. The deceased’s soul will be given three days to look back upon their life, examining their thoughts, words, and deeds, in thinking that if the good outweighs the bad they will be allowed to continue on to Heaven. If the bad outweighs the good, three of the Yazatas will lead the soul onto Hell.
There is heavy symbology present in the form of fire. It plays an important part in many of the rituals and ceremonies, and is representative of Ahura Mazda himself. Ahura Mazda is described as glorious, giving way for light to be recognized as divine. The sacred fire, present in Fire Temples, is said to be a representation of the illumination of man. Yahweh at this time was recognized as the liberator of slaves, and as Robert Karl Gnuse says in No Other Gods: Emergent Monotheism in Israel, “The emphasis upon Yahweh as a liberator in the exodus implies that the Jewish portrayal of God sprang more from the despair of an oppressed people.”25 The idea that Yahweh was the creator of the world could have been brought on from the idea that Ahura Mazda(or Zurvan in Zurvanism) created the good in the world, bringing with him Angra Mainyu and the Yazatas and

Judaism and Zoroastrianism are similar in many ways, but have important key differences. Judaism sees their god as a combination of divine mercy and divine justice, while Zoroastrianism views their god to have a power that is a combination of 6 celestial beings. These beings are called “Amesha Spenta". Nigosian stated, “Ahura Mazda's spiritual powers (menog) consist of a group of six celestial beings (sometimes thought of as archangels), called "Amesha Spenta" (or" Amahraspand," meaning "Holy Immortal" or "Bountiful Immortal"), who stand second in rank to Ahura Mazda and who, with Ahura Mazda at their head, form a heptad.” Basically Zoroastrianism acknowledges the belief in other spiritual beings only if they considered as like a second part to their mighty God, almost like they are his helpers.…

In the short story, “The Masque of the Red Death” Edgar Allan Poe utilizes symbols to evoke a chilling and doleful mood. Prince Prospero ruled during a time of disease and turmoil. However, instead of mourning for the loss of his dominions, he invited many high ranking elites to a party, and left “the external world to take care of itself” (1). The unfair nature of the matter creates a depressing mood, and Prince Prospero, who symbolizes the end of feudalism, holds responsibility.…

In 722 B.C.E. Israel was taken over by the Assyrians, a group of people greatly influenced by the Mesopotamian culture of Babylon, but there were about forty thousand survivors. These survivors were sent into exile in Babylonia, which is a time commonly known as the Babylonian Captivity. After the Persians defeated the Babylonians, in 538 B.C.E., King Cyrus the Great allowed the exiled people to return to Jerusalem. At this time, the exiles started redefining their beliefs and practices. This group of people established what they believed was the law of Yahweh, another name for God and, thus; became what we now call the Jewish religion.…

One of the similarities shared by the two religions is the similarity between the prophet of Ahura Mazda, Zarathustra, and the Christian Messiah, Jesus. For example, the two religious icons have supernatural births (born of virgins), youthful wisdom, religious turnings at the age of thirty, early religious bents, fitness and preeminent responsiveness (Applegate, Zoroastrianism and its probable influence of Judaism and Christianity, 193). Each religion has its form of “Original Sin”. Zoroastrianism’s “Original Sin” is the Shaoshyant, Yama, thinking a bad thought and releasing the Evil spirits on to the world, which brings the end of human immortality and starts the battle between good and evil; whereas, in the Christian religion, Adam and Eve partake in the forbidden fruit and lose their immortality, home in the Garden of Eden, and have to atone for their sins (a form of good vs evil). In addition, the symbolic role of light and fire in the religions is very similar.…

Zarathushtra and Zoroastrians worshipped Ahura Mazda. Zoroastrians monotheistic belief was reserved, “but still retaining their association with forces of nature – the earth, the arch of the sky, water, plants, cattle, and fire” (Fisher 242). Meanwhile, the Jews and Christians also worshipped one true and triune God. According to the Jews, “ “Israel” refers to all those who answer to the call of God and who acknowledge and strive to obey the one God, through the Torah, or “teaching,” given to the patriarchs, Moses, and the prophets” (Fisher 246). The Christian faith is “based on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus,” which keeps within the common grounds of worshipping one God (monotheism) (Fisher 302).…

Major religions such as Hinduism believe in multiple Gods, but the religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam believe in one single God.
