There are many good things derived from a college education done well as a well-done college education will help students in all aspects of life. A well-done college education is best described as one that allows the student to become a well-rounded, knowledgeable, individual who will be able to make their way through life in a way that both benefits them and those around them. The benefits derived from such an education are that it allows the student to become a better informed and more effective citizen of the world community, it allows the student to become a more politically conscious and engaged citizen within their own community, and it offers the student the chance to discover, explore, and test various understandings of religious life. …show more content…
A well-done college education accomplishes this by teaching the student how to better communicate and interact with the world as a whole. As stated by Nussbaum: “Colleges cannot convey the type of learning that produces global citizens unless they have a liberal arts structure: that is, a set of general education courses for all students outside the requirements of the major subject” (p. 93). The subjects taught and required in a liberal arts education would include History, Economics, Philosophy, a foreign language, and many other subjects which all culminates in the student developing their knowledge of the world and learning how to conversate to other individuals within the world. By learning the history of the world, the student is able to be more knowledgeable about the entire world and more knowledgeable in general. Having knowledge of history enables the student to know the mistakes that have been made in the past as well which helps them to form their life in a way that benefits others in the most effective way. Having knowledge of Economics and Philosophy gives the student more things to have a conversation about with other world citizens and allows them to be more knowledgeable on the subjects that other world citizens are knowledgeable on. Whenever a student has a well-done college education they are better able to live their lives in a way that benefits them and those around them.
