“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” When Margaret Mead stated this, no doubt she had people like Malala Yousafzai, Alex Lin, and Fae Carey in mind. When we think about good teen activists we find that they all have several things in common. What makes them a good teen activist is, they find a problem in the world that needs to be solved, they are willing to make huge time commitments, and they continue to keep contributing to their cause. Take Malala for an example, she has been speaking out for girls education since she was 11 years old, and even though she does not live in Pakistan anymore she is still contributing to girls education through the Malala Fund. Alex Lin is another great example of this, in the article by Salvador Cordini on TakePart.com, Alex has been recycling e-waste since he was in the fifth grade and is still continuing to do it through the Westerly Innovations Network. Alex is now trying to reduce e-waste in other countries, such as China. Faye Carey is still continuing to re-home abandoned animals and posts new animals every week up for adoption on her Facebook page according to an article Teenage Girl Is Dog’s Best Friend by Briar Marbeck. In conclusion, there are several character traits that good activists have in common. You need to find an injustice or problem in the world that you want to make right, donate huge amounts of time, and finally, you have to continue to contribute to your cause. I think activists are amazing, they can change laws and shape society to make it better. I know not everyone can become a famous teen activist, but maybe if everyone contributed a little time and energy to a cause they believed in, maybe the world would be a better place to live
