The frontal lobe is immature throughout these years, this part of the brain influences violent actions, rash behavior, and regulates emotion. In January of 1994 Greg appeared for his sentence hearing, accepting a plea agreement of guilty but mentally ill. He was placed in the adult justice system. If Greg was remanded to the juvenile justice system, he would have received help he needed, undergoing intensive behavioral and psychological therapy as a way for him to understand what he did and why, to hopefully correct his future. in the adult system the mental counseling was geared toward helping an inmate cope with his imprisonment, not examining how he got there in the first place. Greg was sentenced to a sixty year term for murdering his parents. Although, he committed this crime when he was a teenager and his mind was clouded by anger, he should have fully thought out the consequences. Greg should serve his full sentence. His parents, the victims, do not get a second chance-they are dead-so why should he. Its has been ruled that locking up murderers without the future examination of release is unlawful because a life behind bars without any review is cruel, inhuman and degrading, but so is murdering someone so it’s all fair. Some believe that if a minor commits a serious crime they should be let out of prison at the age of eighteen or twenty-one. This is not enough time for the juvenile to feel complete remorse for what they have done. If it is easy for them to be let out of jail as a minor then there is not much stopping them the next time they are about to commit another serious crime. It is hard to look at someone who murdered his parents, like Greg, at such a young age and wonder if rehabilitation is
