The song “Good Life” is performed by the band OneRepublic, and written by songwriters Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle, Noel Zancanella and Eddie Fisher. The focus of the song is on the good and bad in life, hence the title “Good Life”. By examining the poetic devices inside the composition, it can be plainly seen that the song “Good Life”, by OneRepublic is a piece of poetry.
The theme of the song “Good Life” by OneRepublic is that even though some aspects of life can be difficult, life in general is usually good. For example, when the song states “Sometimes there's bull$#!^ that don't work now. We all got our stories but please tell me. What there is to complain about”, the artist of the song is saying sometimes things don’t work out, but life’s

The songwriters used things like alliteration, rhymes and hyperboles. Alliteration is used in the line “New names and numbers that I don’t know”. The artist(s) used alliteration in this line because it’s near the beginning of the track, and they want it to catch the listener’s attention by making it sound catchy. Another strategy the authors used to make the song sound catchy was by using rhymes. For example, a rhyme is used in the lines 12-13(fight, tonight). The author can’t use a personal experience because less people would relate to it. By using a hyperbole, people will visualize and connect to the exaggeration, by comparing it to their everyday experiences. All in all, the songwriter predominantly used poetic devices to make the song sound catchy and to create bigger effects for the

The first line simply describes the physical appearance of Europium; metallic and silver (although it’s not actually silver, just a similar color!) “Displaying” refers to how Europium was used in old TVs as a red color, and with the colors blue and green, they would be able to display TV shows and commercials. “Fluorescing” ties into the fact that Europium glows, or fluoresces, red under a blacklight. And “oxidizing” finishes that line of the poem since Europium is known to react very quickly in air, which is why samples of the element are usually found in test tubes or a solution that won’t let it oxidize. The fourth line of the poem describes all the known uses of Europium (there aren’t many).…

Secondly, another poetic device that Kendrick Lamar uses in his song is irony. Irony is when an event occurs in which is unexpected in the sense that it is somehow in mocking opposition in what would be expected or appropriate. When Kendrick Lamar uses irony, it is in a very serious and thought provoking way. For example, in line 63 the speaker says, “Cause you tried to change your life and now you live in a wheelchair.” This line is ironic because it talks about how someone tried to change their life and instead of it getting better, which is what is expected, it got worse by the person becoming handicapped.…

Simic accompanies the hyperboles with realism to create a differing feel sentence to sentence. Two examples are “as I sat in a dark house for 3 days after hurricane Irene”, and “the days were not much better than nights with overcast skies”. The realistic look at spending time in silence brings back memories of boredom for Simic. The bland descriptions of the days after Irene bring people to a time where boredom was not uncommon, and silence was easy to come…

The Silent Killer Kid Cudi released the song Pursuit of Happiness on January 25, 2010, which is a part of his album Man on the Moon: The End of the Day. The song made its first television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman on September 12, 2009. Cudi’s album also consists of other popular songs including “Day N Nite”, “Soundtrack 2 My Life”, and “Man on the Moon.” Pursuit of Happiness comes across as a bright, cheerful song that is about living life in happiness, however the much deeper meaning in the lyrics headlines a man that is in a dark place who struggles to obtain contentment. The Poetic Realism and Social Class in The Rules of the Game The 1939 film The Rules of the Game (Jean Renoir) created before the Second World War portraits the everyday life of upper-class people and the relationships between different social classes in the contemporary French society. The detailed setting of the estate endows the vivid comparison between the upstairs and downstairs' working and living milieus. The complicated romantic relationships between families in the same class as well as cross the masters and servants do not only provide the film with the complexity of entertainment but also indicates the uncertain prospects and the ambiguous boundaries in terms of various social classes. As the typical features of poetic realism,…
