This was set in 1970s because during the Vietnam War, they believed that if a person could be conscripted to fight and die for their country, they should also have the right to drink alcohol. (Good and bad). I strongly believe that the current legal drinking age should not be 18. I believe it should be raised to the age of 20.…

I personally think that the drinking age should be lowered to 18. The 1984 National Minimum Drinking Age Act, [23 U.S.C. § 158], requires that States prohibit persons under 21 years of age from purchasing or publicly possessing alcoholic beverages (APIS - The 1984 National Minimum Drinking Age Act). There are some excuses to the law. One main Idea about lowering the drinking age is that if you can risk your life for the army or some armed forces, you should be allowed to order a drink. The idea that the drinking age should be lowered to 18 is a foolish statement. The drinking age was 18 at one time, but was changed in 1984 for the greater good in the 1984 National Minimum Age Drinking Act. (APIS) I believe the national drinking age should stay the same because the brain doesn’t fully develop by age 18, 18 year olds still hang out with enough minors, and if you’re going to drink for an appropriate reason, most states allow underage drinking anyways. Lowing the drinking age would be a huge mistake.…

In the United States at the age of eighteen, a person is considered an adult. At this age an individual is able to do things such as join the army, vote, purchase tobacco, move out of parent house, get married and more. The age of eighteen is the age of adulthood in the United States. Adults should have the right to make their own decisions about alcohol intake, not the government making the decision for them. By lowering the legal drinking age to eighteen this would lower the number of underage drinkers.…

I think the drinking age should stay the same at 21 because if lowered. Peers would be younger around alcohol, the brain development is not complete, and not mature enough to make good choices when under the influence. First I’ll talk about if the age is lowered and what would happen. If the age is lowered more likely to provide to minors.…

Persuasion Paper The debate whether or not the drinking age should be lowered began many years ago and still continues to this day. In the United States, the legal drinking age in all 50 states and the District of Columbia is 21 years old. As both sides go back and forth between changing the law and keeping it, I am on the side to go ahead and allow adults over the age of 18 to drink alcoholic beverages. I strongly believe in changing the law for many reasons including the fact that many 18 year olds have already drank and are now adults, that surprisingly lowering the drinking age in many ways can increase the safety and health of minors, and lastly that the college campus rape dilemma would decrease.…

His theory states that social organization and change is based upon conflicts within the society. People between the ages of 18 and 21, called stakeholders, feel that they aren’t getting to exercise all of their rights to being an adult by government definition. They given all of the responsibilities and consequences of adults such as the right to vote, the ability to adopt, the right to join the military, the right to be charged with the highest punishment if accused of a crime, the right to get married, the right to buy and create pornography, etc. LAFAA would argue that with given all of these rights, government defined adults would also have to right to choose whether or not to consume alcohol. The families that allow their children to drink give a conflicting message to those who are a part of the underage drinking.…

People use alcohol for numerous reasons. They can use it for peer pressure, celebration, anxiety, sadness, boredom, rebellion and insomnia are just a few. Even with the countless fatal accidents and deaths from alcohol, teens still pursue to drink even from the consequences that they will face. Why should this 21 drinking age be lowered? For the simple fact no matter what age we raise this law to, the illegal age will still be whenever a teen is surrounded by their peers with alcohol and finds it okay to drink.…

The national drinking age should stay at the age of 21. All evidence points to this direction both for the health of these adolescents, and for the well being of the general populace. This can been seen when comparing regions of the world with a minimum drinking age with countries that grant individuals the freedom to drink at a minimal age. Additionally, it is obvious that the national drinking age should remain due to the health benefits that regions receive due to their minimum drinking age.…

In 1984 the legal drinking age in the United States was raised to 21. The United States should lower the drinking age to 18 because the law may not be protecting teens and others. Although the drinking age was raised to protect teens, “it may have made drinking even more appealing to teens, whose brains naturally seek out risk more than adult brains do without considering what the consequences might be”. Some people argue that teens brain aren't developed enough to handle drinking, but according to the article “the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that involves judgment, impulse control and abstract thought and the ability to anticipate the consequences of your actions, isn't fully shaped until your late 20s”.…

Dropping the legal drinking age. The legal Drinking age was once the age of eighteen, that is until the 1980s when the law was that the drinking age should be risen to twenty-one to diminish the amount of deaths caused by young drunk drivers. It has succeed but it has also driven it to unsupervised parties such as high school parties and fraternity and sorority parties where all age groups have access to alcohol. But in this day and age the amount of deaths cause by drunk driving is not mostly caused by underage people alone, it is caused by people above the age of twenty one who believe that they can handle their intake of alcoholic beverages.…

According to NIH (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism), 5,000 people under the age of 21 die each year due to alcohol-related accidents, such as car wrecks, suicides, alcohol poisoning, homicides, burns, falls, and drownings("Under-aged”). However, think of the young men and women who have died to fend for our country, and not being able to have that first drink with their father, or go out and drink with their friends. Yes drinking can be dangerous in situations, but I believe that if a young man or woman can go die for their country, or even be able to make the important decision on who will lead our country. Then at the age of 18 we should be able to drink alcohol if we want. It can help teach responsibility and help us get through tough…

In recent years, a lot of debate had been going on about the laws pertaining to firearms. Unfortunately, with all of the mass shootings and killings being reported by the media, guns are given a bad reputation. Sadly, many people believe that they should be illegal because they are dangerous and can kill people, but what these people don’t realize is making them illegal will do a lot more harm than good. Guns have created a balance in society and if we were to take them away it could cause a lot of chaos which would result in more crime and more casualties. People deserve the right to bear arms because with proper training one could possibly save his/her life and also protect others.…
