Good Intentions Gone Bad Argumentative Essay

Taking the class Gemini English 103 with Mrs. Doran was very beneficial in many ways, and my final argumentative paper definitely reflects all of the progress I have made throughout this past year. I have had the opportunity to develop as a writer, researcher, and as a practitioner of close and critical thinking skills by the different lessons taught in this course. This paper seemed challenging at first since I could not decide on a topic and ended up switching after writing my original annotated bibliographies. However, once I obtained all my sources, writing a six page paper was not stressful since I planned my time accordingly. Overall, I achieved a better understanding of rhetorical knowledge; critical thinking, reading, and writing skills; process; and knowledge of conventions from this final argumentative assignment. I wrote my paper, Good Intentions Gone Bad, about the effects of over involved parents on their child once they reach college. Originally, I was going to write about child care and whether parental care or daycare was better for the child, however, I had trouble finding useful scholarly articles that I could implement into my paper. In order for my writing to turn out clear, concise, and accurate, when I read through my sources I took notes on the negative and positive effects of helicopter parents.
