As they are directed into the castle of the Wizard they enter this room that is very dark and also spooky. In the matter of seconds, the Wizard himself appears to them in a powerful way. Several different sound effects were used to infiltrate the sense of how powerful the Wizard actually is. Smoke, fire and lightening sounds were used as he is talking to Dorothy and her friends to also intimidate them in a way. However they also use mid-shot and close-up to allow the viewers to again get the full effect of the scene and allow them to see the emotion and reaction from Dorothy as she meets the Wizard. Camera angles also play a role in this scene as they use high and low angles. Ultimately low angles were mainly used on the Wizard to give him a more powerful stance and to make the others look smaller than him. The devices used in this scene are used to enhance the Wizards good sense of power as he tries to help Dorothy return
