Good And Evil In A Good Man Is Hard To Find

Eric Burdon once said: "Inside each of us, there is the seed of both good and evil. It 's a constant struggle as to which one will win. And one cannot exist without the other." All humans have a good and evil aspect in them, whether we are helping someone or making some feel unhappy. Humans have different deceptions of evil which can ultimately lead someone to believe the evil they are doing is good. Although, they think it is good, it is actually bad that is why good and evil can’t exist without each other. Good and Evil maintains somewhat of a homeostasis in ones body. The authors highlight that the main characters of the short story such as the grandmother, the misfit and Bailey has a good and evil trait in them. As most Christians would say “repent now or regret it later”. This saying means that one should admit their sins or wrongdoings now and ask for god for forgiveness, not when Judgment Day calls. We can see this play out in the short story “A Good Man is Hard to Find”. In the story the grandmother is portrayed as someone very negative. Although the grandmother is of African American descent, she still says racist comments such as “Little niggers in the country don’t have things like we do. If I could paint, I’d paint that picture”. Later on in the passage we can also tell that she has evil traits because when the Misfit orders her family to be mudered, she did not beg for mercy for her family. But when the Misfit was going to kill the grandmother she begged for mercy for her self. That showed a selfish trait of the grandmother. The turning point of the the Grandmother is exactly the moment before she gets killed. The grandmother started preach about Jesus to the misfit and also cried “Jesus” in need of deperate help.
