Gonsea Restaurant Violation

The Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services on Friday said its closure of the Gonsea Restaurant in Eureka was not a common occurrence and that it only occasionally shuts down facilities.
“There are occasional cases where we do find serious violations,” said Amanda Ruddy, Senior Environmental Specialist with DHHS.
The restaurant at 2335 Fourth Street in Eureka was shut down after a 10 a.m. inspection in which a health inspector reported finding several violations. The restaurant’s permit to operate was suspended pending an appeal, according to a report from the Department of Health & Human Services.
Gonsea Restaurant was first opened in the city in 1994, according to a page on its website. The restaurant was unreachable by phone
