It was a trip I took with a couple of friends in high school a few of years ago. We were super excited and completely forget the ride going/being 200’ feet in the air, and rushed in line to be able to ride. A few years ago, on a class trip, my friends had asked me to ride at least one roller coaster. It was not a large roller coaster, but it made me queasy just looking at it. I was confident that I would be able to go on and enjoy the experience. My confidence quickly evaporated when we began climbing up the roller coaster’s first hill. The ride dropped, and I was screaming so loudly that I could only hear myself.…

How does one become “immortal”? To answer that you’d have to pick a definition of immortal. For me that definition is to be remembered for many years to come, most likely not by millions of people, but by a few. In reading the Epic of Gilgamesh something dawned on me, what would I want to be remembered for if I died today? Seeing as I’ve never truly considered it, it took me a good while to determine the things I would want to be written into the history books for.…

Over the years and years spent on studying mythology, Joseph Campbell came up with the concept of The Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey states that all hero’s travel in a similar path and go through many similar stages that’ll lead them to their reward. However, not every hero’s journey has to involve obstacles as in slaying a dragon or trying to save the world. In my case, I had to do nothing but trying to make it through sixth grade year. Sadly, sixth grade was the year that I faced the most challenges, real world challenges at least.…

I boarded the plane feeling very excited and yet terrified at the same time. I felt this way because my family was traveling all the way to Cancun, Mexico for my uncles wedding. I was under the superstition that once we stepped off the plane, I would be shot, causing me to want to remain in cozy little Marshall. I was in fifth grade at the time, making it easier to cave into these beliefs. These superstitions may have been true in other parts of Mexico, but not where I stayed.…
