Golf Captain Disadvantages

Most small groups or teams always have a leader. Every year there is a new captain selected by the team members and coaches to be the leader of the golf team. For three out of the four years I played high school golf I was the captain of the team. As the captain you play an important role in leadership. You have to show your teammates right from wrong and you have to have disciplinary rules if a rule is broken. As the leader of your team you must also be able to help other players be more positive when either there playing poorly or maybe just in a bad mood. A position that is more important then the captain is being the head coach. By having a good coach it makes you want to play at your highest level in order to impress him. This can also work to your disadvantage, by trying to hard to play well for your coach you end up worrying. …show more content…
This is why your overall communication between coaches, captains and other teammates is key to having a successful team. As the players on the team communicated with the coach also referred to upward communication. This is when players at a lower ranking are communication with a higher ranked individual like there coach. Throughout the season upward communication is taking place because you are constantly talking to your coach and either taking advice or even just having a friendly conversation with them. As you are using upward communication downward communication is going on at the same time, it is just the opposite. During practices when your coach asks you a question whether regarding how you play or how your preparing for the upcoming tournament. These are all examples of downward
