Materials. Numerous substances in the experiment were used. The most frequently used was the unknown due to the need to test its physical and chemical qualities. When a solution of the unknown was made, 1.000 g of the unknown and 1.0 mL of water was used to make it. To test for the possible ions, 1.0 mL of silver nitrate and 1.0 mL of nitric acid were used for the ion test.…
Conclusion The initial hypothesis was rejected. The hypothesis was if the mass of the baseball bat affects the distance the baseball will go, then the heavier the bat is, the further it will travel. The average for the 283.5 gram bat was 49.2 meters. The average distance for the 396.9 gram bat was 52.29 meters.…
Engage: If the diameter of a golf ball is 4.27cm then the radius is half of that which means it is 2.135cm. Using the formula to calculate the volume of a sphere one golf ball is 40.76 cm3. To calculate the volume of six golf balls this number…

The focus of this lab was to identify an unknown organism based on its characteristics and the results from each of the tests. There will be various of test to choose from in order to identify the unknown organism, which will eliminate numerous possibilities and narrow it down to one. All the fundamental skills that we have learned and practiced in the lab will be used to perform on our unknown such as aseptic technique, microscopic examination, the use of differential media, and determining if it’s positive or negative. Performing aseptic techniques is the most crucial step that requires the utilizing of transferring, inoculating, and storing bacterial cultures and media. Aseptic technique is defined as procedures that prevent contamination…
MUSCULOSKELETAL ASSIGNMENT 2016 Ball and Socket Joint – Shoulder 1) What is the scientific name of this joint? The scientific name for the Shoulder Joint is Glenohumeral joint. The Glenohumeral joint is a true synovial ball and socket joint. The joint allows the shoulder joint to move in a circular rotation and also to move towards and away from the body.…
The Ginty Lab at Harvard Medical school focuses its research on understanding the function, organization, and mechanisms of assembly of the peripheral nervous system and spinal cord circuits that underlie somatosensation. My project specifically is examining contributions of the peripheral nervous system to Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) using a mouse model of ASD. A recent study in our lab found a peripheral somatosensory neuron locus of dysfunction in two mouse models of ASD that lead to tactile hypersensitivity due to deficits in GABAA receptor signaling at the primary afferent terminals in the spinal cord, as well as anxiety-like behavior and social interaction deficits in these mice. These results highlight a possible new therapeutic target for the treatment of ASD, and we therefore hope to determine whether restoration of GABAA receptor signaling specifically in peripheral somatosensory neurons can improve the observed…
Method 1. Scissors were used to cut the rubber band, making the rubber band one straight line instead of a circular shape. 2. One end of the rubber band was securely tied to the middle of the skewer. The other end was securely tied to the hook of the 100g slotted steel weight.…
From the table, we can see there were no colonies growing on the tryptophan dropout and the isoleucine drop out, on all the medium plates except for the 1X dilution Tobacco medium plate. For the positive control, increasing concentrations of ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS) resulted in a decreasing number of colonies growing on the medium plates. This means that EMS is mutating the yeast in such a way that they would not be able to grow on the YPD. For each concentrations of the positive control, there are 3 different colours of the colonies with white being the most common. White means that there were no mutations to the yeast, which could explain why there are so many colonies as they are able to grow on the YPD plate.…
In this lab assignment we focused on Mathematics. The purpose of the lab, was to teach a math lesson with technology. We had talked about technology and how it has improved in the education system. We were introduced to an application called "Explain Everything". Explain Everything is a handy app that lets you do so many things that can be useful as a teacher; but its an app for everyone.…
Golf is a sport that requires great focus and good skills in order to succeed on the field. For you to have decent skills in this sport you need two things. One, you need to practice rigorously. Second, you must have the best possible golf equipment available to you. Having the best golf clubs and equipment does not really mean it will make you into the best golf player, but having the best equipment will certainly help your game.…
For a large number of people, their experience with lab reports and scientific documents will be limited to a lab or two they are required to take in college for a general education credit. Skills learned in these classes will most likely be quickly forgotten and never used again. However, for those that work in a scientific field, writing lab reports is a fundamental skill that will be used time and time again. Lab reports can be used to express many different types of data and prove a variety of hypothesizes in different scientific disciplines, but the general formula for writing all reports stays consistent across the board. To write a successful lab report, the information must be presented in a clear and readable manner.…
NATURAL SELECTION SIMULATION (“STICK-BIRD”) INTRODUCTION Within a hypothetical population of “worms” (toothpick) that inhabit a predominantly green-coloured environment (green grass), there are four colour of variations; red, blue, cream and green. The worms are food for a predator known as a “stick-bird” (students). This experiment is designed to let students observe the effects of the theory of evolution by natural selection. Natural selection is an explaination of how evolution could have occurred which was proposed by Charles Darwin.…

There are two sets of measurements in a golfers swing with each club. The first measurement is the joint angles and feet/ ball orientation of the golfer. The body kinematics during the swing from take away when you swing up to ball impact when you hit it. And the second measurement is swing characteristics and ball dynamics, the club heads speed, ball speed, clubface angle, swing path angle, impact point, tempo, rotation, are modified versions of the Golftek pro swing data analysis system. Club heads may be made from chrome-plated steel, aluminum, titanium, tungsten, beryllium nickel, beryllium…
