Stereotype is defined by google dictionary as “a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.” I can think of many stereotypes with this definition in mind. I believe that golden retrievers are friendly and fluffy, babies are adorable and smell nice, mothers are loving and protective, and that people who enjoy reading are smart and have big vocabularies. All these beliefs and assumptions have formed from personal experience with pets, children, motherhood and books. Of course, as with all generalizations, there are exceptions, but they serve to prove the rule.
