The role of the Golden One and International 4-8818 in the novella is very strange. The people in this this story live in a weird place and they call it the novella.The way that they live is men don't pay attention to women and vice versa. If I am not mistaken I think that all women work in fields and wear white tunics. There are a lot of things that are very strange in this book instead of breaking the law they call it sins. The novella is not a place that sounds happy nor exciting. Equality 7-2521 is the main character, who faces something that usually doesn't happen to him and he wonders if this is normal for him. International 4-8818 is the Equality”s only friend. International looks at Equality like he is amazing.Both of them find a tunnel together and begin to write journals. International is the person in the book that breaks rules secretly. International and Equality have been friends seems like forever. Not much is told about International besides that he found the tunnel and is Equality’s only friend. Equality 7-2521 had broken some rules. The first extreme rule was that he took notice in Liberty 4-8818 (the Golden One), he also had given her a nickname. Just Romeo and Juliet they were forbidden lovers. At some points the book can be very confusing.The people in the novella are not allowed to do most of the things we do and it's kind of sad. These three characters I have talked about seem to be doing somewhat okay with their daily life so far. Hopefully they won't end up dead or end up in a jail cell waiting for death to come toward them. The book anthem has it's point where they don't make sense especially when they are not speaking in 1st person point of view. I would go completely out of my mind too if I lived in the novella. It's a hard life for them and we won't understand how they feel considering that this book is
