This organization would help delivers trained dogs ,who used to live in shelters or came from poor quality households, to older people and have the dogs visit them daily, weekly, monthly or annually regardless if they live by themselves or inside of a nursing home. I wish for these dogs to specialize in the care of older individuals who are disabled or unable to perform simple actions, so they can proved the elder with not only company but also provide assistance for any task the person needs help with. To obtain a dog at GDGP, the older individual themselves or a credible caretaker would call or email GDGP to establish and appointment with an inspector to check on the status of the older individual (to see if they have any special needs that has to be meet or needs that can not be meet) and the older individual’s living situation (to see if they are able to provide the dog with enough room and comfort as well as for themselves to move around). After inspection and all is clear for the the older individual to have a dog, the older individual or the older individuals credible caretaker will create specified dates and times they would wish to see a specific dog. There will be a database of dogs with their photos and specific expertises and personality that will cater to the older individual needs and desires. It has been scientifically proven the the presence of a dog lowers depression, relieve stress and helps their owner become more active at any age. There is a misconception that older adults deal with less stress than their younger counterparts because they are give certain benefits and going into retirement, but people fail to realize that getting older also comes different types of mental stress that stem from changes to one 's working, financial, or marital status and medical stresses that stem from getting older. And these stresses that plague older adults lives may lead to an early grave. By giving older individuals a stress reliever, a companion or some assistance we are lowering the mortality, depression and stress rate of those who are 65 and older. There is also the stigma that life is miserable for older adults because they face many negative repercussions from aging. It is true that older adults have to face many adjustments and this may cause despondency within in themselves and the situation they are in. But many organizations including GDGP are combating those emotions of disconsolation and despondency within the older community and destroying stereotypes that leaves
