Being the fifth time Australia has staged the event, the Gold Coast will host the 21st commonwealth games. With 300 days of sunshine, gazing on a 55 km stretch of golden sandy beaches, world heritage listed rainforests, lots to do, surrounded by friendly faces the Gold Coast is the ideal location to hold the Commonwealth Games. It is Australia’s sixth largest city, one of the fastest growing regions in the country and one of the most diverse year round tourism destination in Australia attracting 11 million visitors each year. With a wide array of natural attractions, the city offers a broad range of well-developed tourist and family-friendly services and infrastructure, including restaurants, shopping, wineries, theme parks, beaches, accommodation, nature parks, cultural experiences and night life. These aspects form a solid foundation to the Gold coast being the permeant host of the Commonwealth games.
The emblem design embraces the three pillars, resembling the place, the event and the sport, but it also captures the Gold Coast’s unique personality of being positive, energetic, colourful and fun.

From 4th- 15th April 2018, more than 6600 athletes and officials from 70 Commonwealth nations and territories will gather to compete in and experience the games. The bidding journey began in 2008 and finally in 2014 at the closing ceremony of the Glasgow commonwealth games gold coast mayor accepted the commonwealth games federation flag and introduced the gold coast as the next host city before a global television audience of 300 million people, bringing about levels of international exposure never before seen by the gold
