Ofelia Garza Mr. Hodge U.S. History June 6, 2016 Going to War in Vietnam: Vietnam War North Vietnam was supported by the Soviet Union, China and other communist allies. Ngo Dinh Diem is the South Vietnamese politician. South Vietnam was supported by the United States, Philippines and other anti-communist allies. Ho Chi Minh is the Vietnamese revolutionary leader and declared independence. The Vietnam War happened in the years 1955-1975. That’s 19 years, 5 months, 4 weeks, 1 day. The South had many traps like Punji sticks and these sticks had poison on them. Men fell in these and died or got injured badly. They also had a trap in the lake that was like a string and you would trip over that and triggered something to attack you. The United States
