Just like John Wehrle's painting "Galileo, Jupiter, Apollo", his painting was 207-foot long and it went on to be covered with graffiti. It seems like taggers had no respect for other artists paintings, they defaced most of the paintings on the Hollywood freeway. i also think that taggers think their work is "art" and that their work is good enough to be on the freeway just like the rest of the famous paintings.
I think Romero's response to the destrution of his artwork was in place, i mean would you like to go see your artwork that the city asked you to paint covered by grey paint. He was also not notified that the city would be painting over his artwork. By law the artists must be notified to be able to save his artwork or moving it someplace else before they can removed them, Romero had every right to sue Caltrans.
In conclusion, taggers have a huge impact on the artists artwork they can have their artwork be removed by the city.
