Going To College

It has never been up for negotiation: going to college. Since I was small, the importance of a college education has been preached to me from every direction, but regardless of these influences, to me, college is worth the cost. Regardless of the time and cost, anyone who has the opportunity to pursue the college path should snatch it up. Why? The knowledge and experience one will gain from going to college can never be taken away from them, and also, they will grow intellectually as a person. To begin with, there are negative aspects in furthering one’s education by going to college. College seems not to be worth it to many because of the high price and delayed award. It seems illogical to spend money and time on a higher education when people are going straight into the workforce and even doing well for themselves. Also, college leaves many students in debt. Many technical jobs that don’t require a college degree are increasingly being performed by machinery. Be that as it may, there will always need to be the innovative thinkers and inventors behind new technology. In source B, it says, “Given the pace of technological and social change, it no longer makes sense to devote four years of higher education on specific skills.” The middle class is filled with jobs that require a specific skill set, nonetheless, it’s the middle class that is slowly disappearing. Also, even in skill-focused jobs, college can be beneficial.
